Fidelity Impact on Retention

In our quest to tackle the high turnover rates in the ABA industry, our data-driven investigation led to a pivotal discovery: the '4-80 rule.' This rule indicates that a minimum of 4 supervisory observations per month, with a mean treatment fidelity score of 80% or higher, greatly enhances technician retention and overall industry quality.

These observations aren't just simple contacts but involve assessing the integrity of various programs implemented with clients. Surprisingly, this critical data collection can be efficiently conducted within a single 30-minute session or spread across the month.

Let's delve into the data revealing the impact of the '4-80 rule.' We found that providers observed at least 4 times per month, regardless of their fidelity scores, were more likely to stay with their organization. Specifically, providers meeting the '4-80' criteria experienced significantly lower annual turnover rates compared to those with less frequent observations or lower integrity scores.

These findings, currently under peer review, highlight the '4-80 rule' as a key predictor of turnover, emphasizing its role in ensuring continuity of care and quality in our services. More data will be shared here once the manuscript under review has been accepted.
